Living Room-Open
Alex had finally had it with the "NO ALCOHOL" rule, knowing that you clearly couldn't watch a football game, even a re-run of one on 'ESPC CLASSIC', without the essentials. Chips, dip, salsa, wings and beer. Yes, Alex had enough food to feed a party of people, and no, he probably wouldn't eat it all himself, but...he could save some. For when football season got under way this year, which was only a few weeks away. At least unilt pre-seaon games started.

With all his goodies, and donning his GreenBay sweatshirt, Alex plopped down the couch, flipping the tv on, already to watch a game that he'd seen several times already, but it never seemed to get old. But for some reason...the tv didn't seem to be working.

"What?" He said outloud, flipping it off and on again only get a black screen. He checked all the wires, which seemed to be conected. He check the satilite signal, which seemed to be fine. He checked everything he could think of and still...nothing.

"Alright, who broke the tv?" He asked outloud, as though someone was around to hear him. "Piece of crap," he swore and threw a couple pillows at the tv, hoping that somehow, that might fix it. But, no such luck. Maybe it just need a good kick...or plasma blast.

He hadn't meant to do it so hard, or so forceful...But Alex had charged up a little too much in his frustration and sent a gaint blast into the tv, shattering the glass and putting a bit hole right in the middle. "Shit." He swore again, and quickly made an attempted to hide it before anyone saw it, and him, at the scene of the crime....

Paige, having gotten back from Kentucky a few days earlier, had decided that watching some television might be a good thing, and walked into the rec room right as Alex started to hide his 'accident'.

"Mr. Summers?" She questioned, crossing her arms and raising an eyebrow. "What did you do?"

Alex jumped and turned around. Shit, he thought. Caught red handed. "Um...Nothing. I was just...uh, trying to watch some tv and when I got down here, I found it like this." That's it. Play dumb, maybe she hadn't actually -seen- him do it.

"Really? Because I could've sworn I just heard a crash." Dude, seriously, she's got a gazillion little brothers and sisters. Do you think she doesn't know a lie when she hears one?

"Well...I heard it to, and...and I raced in here to see what it was. But, whoever did it must have run away pretty fast." That seemed plauseable, right? He'd just keep playing along. "I swear, it was like this when I got here. I don't know who did it, but I'm sure they are gonna be in big trouble."

"Mmmhmm," she agreed, eyebrow raising, if at all possible, a bit further. "You seem a bit nervous Mr. Summers. Sure you didn't have anything to do with this?" That's right Paige, accuse a teacher.

It was that look. The same look Scott always gave him. (Wonderful! His brother was rubbing off on the kids now.) The 'Look' that always made him cave. "I didn't mean to do it. It was an accident. The tv wasn't working and I tried to...fix it." That was his story anyway. "I swear I didn't mean to do it."

Scott wasn't to blame for The Look. Paige had learned that after years on the farm. She couldn't help but giggle, though. He was supposed to be an adult, wasn't he?

"I think I can fix it." Alex said. "Or at least, hide it until I can take it some where to get it fixed. Or replaced." He looked back at the tv. There was no way that thing was going to get repaired. Alex was wondering how much money he saved up. Maybe he could replace it with one of those plasma screens..."Just don't tell Scooter. I'll never hear the end of it."

"I think you might be better off replacing it," Paige opined. "And don't you think Mr. Summers," the other one, "will notice if the tv goes missing?"

"Not if someone doesn't tell him, he won't. At least, not right away. Scott doesn't watch much tv." It was true, he'd never seen Scott in front of the tv much. "We'll just close the doors on the entertainment center and put up a note that says the cable's out or something."

"You're expecting me to be an accomplice?" Paige questioned, the last word ending in a squeak. Was he serious? Lying wasn't part of her vocabulary.

"Well, you're the only one besides me who knows what happend." Alex said giving her a, DUH! look. "If you don't help me, who else is going to? And you don't have to lie. Just don't tell Scott the truth." Lord knew he was the king of lying to his brother. "Or -you-, can get the tv and I'll lie to fly boy?"

"Mr. Summers," she gasped. "That's so wrong." Just because Alex lied to Scott all the time didn't mean that everyone else had to, or even wanted to. "And if I don't help at all?"

"Wrong or not, we've got to do something and that's the best I can think of." Cause the less Scott knew he was involved the better. He didn't feel like getting his ass kicked. Again. But, shh...he still thinks he won. "If you don't help, I'll...give you detention for a week." Yeah. Cause he was a teacher. He actual give detentions. Right?

"Blackmail?" She questioned, mouth dropping. And he knew just the thing to threaten her with, too. The one detention she'd gotten had been more than enough, and it had only been for one day, but a whole week? "You wouldn't."

"I suppose not," she answered with a frown. "I won't say anything, but I don't have my driver's license, so I can't go get a new tv, and ah-I am not going to lie to Mr. Summers for you."

"Don't think of it as lying. Think of it as...helping to keep a younger sibling from getting in trouble." Alex said, trying to not be the bad guy. Cause Scott was the bad buy. He was the cool Summers brother. "Surely you can understand that?"

"Well..." Alex could sort of see the logic. "The next time -you're- in trouble, I'll help you out." Seemed logical anyway. To him. "That's fair. Right?"

She stared at him for a moment, blinking. "Never." Not on her own, anyway. Paige was a goody-two-shoes. "Ask anyone."

Alex just stared at her. Was she serious? Didn't this girl realize that she was a teenager? That she was suppose to get in trouble. "Oh, man...Paige, right? We've got to work on getting you out more. You've got to loosen up, have some fun." He knew all about fun. He was the Kind of fun. "And we can start with a tiny, white lie."

Paige, although she hadn't been impacted as much as Sam by the death of her father, had been forced to do some serious growing up. "Yes, it's Paige. And I have fun." She tucked her hair behind her ear. "Besides, Momma wouldn't be too proud of me."

"I won't. If you don't tell." Alex nodded. "So, now the question is...how do we keep Scott from finding out?" He began to think.

Jean had just rounded the corner on her way to the kitchen, actually eating lunch for once,(Scott would be happy.), when she heard Alex and popped into the living room. "Keep Scott from finding out about what?" She asked, her arms crossed.

"Detention? Alex, what's going on?" Jean asked, walking more into the room. "I find it very hard to believe that Miss Guthrie could have done anything to warnt a detention."

Alex just looked from Paige to Jean. Shit. He thought. "I...um..." He didn't know what to say without giving himself away. And frankly, Jean scared him more than Scott.

Jean gave a Paige a knowing look with a small smile. "I've no doubt of that, Miss Guthrie." She turned to Alex. "So wanna tell me what really happened?"

Alex, was trying to figure out what to say. Cause, duh, he wasn't going to tell her the truth. "The tv was broken when I came in. I was trying to fix it. I swear."

"Un-hun," Jean raised an eyebrow at Alex and then turned to Paige. "Care to tell me what really happened, Miss Guthrie?"

"Yes, Paige. You can go." Jean said with a nod. "Thank you for your help. I made a fresh batch of chocolate chip cookies this morning, if you want some. Help yourself."

Jean turned to Alex. "Alright, Mr. Summers," said in her best teacher voice that she used with her most trouble some students. "Explain to me what happened?"

Alex would have glared after her, except, Jean was standing right there. And Jean meant one step closer to Scott finding out. He was so screwed.

"I'm telling the truth, Jeannie." He pleaded. "The tv wasn't working and I tried to fix it. I just...tried it fix it with my powers and put a little too much oomph into it." He actually looked sheepish.
